Saturday Centus ~ The Card

Yea!  Miss Jenny has finally posted a prompt that I can relate to ... and you know that whole, write about what you know about thing ... so that's what I am doing for this Centus ...
You know the drill, use her prompt, which is in bold below, and write a little story using one hundred words or less  excluding the prompt... here is my offering ...

He squinted as a bead of sweat trickled down his forehead into his eye … he hastily mopped it up with the back of his sleeve and glanced up at the competition clock … less than 2 minutes to go before a new world champion papercrafter was crowned. Panicking he looked to the left, the lady representing Japan folded her paper so perfectly and was only a few points behind him … everything depended upon this single card.  He started to shake as he placed the last of the 33 Swarovski crystals on his paper lily … would it be enough he wondered …

Now grab a cuppa coffee, click on the button below ... and visit some other very short and very amusing stories ... light reading for a saturday afternoon!

Peace, love & paper

Liked it and would never have thought to use it that way.

It just isn't in the cards.

Okay...I need a link to visualize this awesome sounding paper lily! Original and wonderful take on the prompt. I could feel the intensity of the competition through your pen. (or rather, keyboard!)

I find this fascinating that you would take this in the direction of an Origami competition. The thought never came to me when I was think up ideas on how to use the prompt. Well done!~Ames

I love this too. You're very original - with the "new world championship papercrafter" competition, and the inclusion of Swarovski crystals. Great job.

So original! I, like everyone else, want to see what his origami looks like. I can make a crane but nothing as beautiful as a paper lily with 33 Swarovski crystals. haha. Great job!

Jo,

This is a direction I didn't see coming from the prompt. Great imagination, even better use of your 100 words. The images are vivid and concrete which makes for a great picture in the mind.
Great!

Namaste..........cj

What a fun, fun twist on this prompt! I loved it!

The bead of sweat, the crystal...all the imagery.

Wow, this was cool.

And, BTW, a competition I would most certainly never be qualified to enter! ha!
