I can feel it coming in the air tonight ....

actually it's more like I can feel it in the air this morning ... yup ... it is here ... i felt it this morning when i was driving daughter to work ... moisture in the air ... a coolness in the morning air that wasn't there yesterday ... we drive past a maple tree in the park ... one small branch is full of vibrant red leaves ... and as we drive, dried leaves fall from trees and litter the street and sidewalk with brown ... and yet it is still summer .... most of the trees are a beautiful green, but autumn and all of its colourful glory is making her way here ... taking the green away ... replacing this one beautiful & vibrant colour with the first three colours of the rainbow ... kinda funny how that works ... I will miss the green, even though there are plenty of evergreens, i will miss the brilliant green foliage that is here all spring and summer ... i mourn the day when i look out my window and just see stark naked branches ... no leaves ... no chirping birds ... no insane squirrels ... well okay ... that is a lie ... those damn squirrels are always around ... but i will miss the green ...

Geez, was that like the shortest post ever for me??? I'm sparing you all a great deal of reading today ... As ever, this post was brought to you by the colour GREEN, the beautiful and soulful Jenny Matlock and her Rainbow Summer School Meme ... check it out ... and enjoy the day reading some very interesting takes on the colour green!

Some pics ... most of them are very recent

dd was 5 when this photo was shot ... love the green grass and the great big autumn coloured leaf

The rec centre has a "green" roof, with plants growing atop it

Yummy Carleton ware

love the old green felt lining in my Mom's bronzed baby shoes

the bike police wear green safety vests ... now this is on the side of a highway ... i shot while driving (don't try it) these officers actually had a car pulled over ... I find myself wondering how fast they must have been pedalling

just a great big beautiful leaf

bamboo

shadows of green ....

at the conservatory ... leaves against the glass roof

On my neighbor's tree the other day, I noticed a few of his leaves are starting to turn colors too. I was shocked with the heat we've been having. I'll give up the green if we can just have cooler temperatures for more than a few days here and there. Great green pictures.

Well, down in Texas it is 105 and it cools down to the low 90's at night...hahah. No fall in the air there. I am actually in the mountains though for a break from the heat and I feel it too up here. I do love all the green leaves but I don't mind the dead looking branches. They have a sort of beauty in them. Nice post....

I can't believe that you're already seeing hints of autumn already! It still feels like the middle of summer here! I do look forward to seeing all the leaves change colors too though, just like you, I'll miss all the green when winter rolls around and all the trees are bare again.

In South Florida we never get the ROY of the trees. I miss that.

Early in August the days shorten and my SAD sets in. I can feel autumn before anything except vibrant green is showing its colors.

Was under the SAD lamp already this week to get much needed Vit. D.

I don't get a lot of autumn colors here. But I do have a maple in my yard so I have a taste! You are right about those crazy squirrels.

I'm really, really trying to swallow back my envy that you're feeling fall to tell you how much I liked your Rainbow Summer School Green link!

I will have to throw your head back and take that wonderful scent in for me, too.

We are months away from fall here in the desert!

Thank you for linking this week!

A+
