Blue ....

Here we are at my very favourite colour ... and i'm a bit perplexed when it comes to saying something about it ... it's the sky, it's the sea ... it's kind of the question isn't it??? what lies in and above those beautiful blue skies, and what lies below those beautiful blue seas ... it almost begs you to believe in something ... almost anything ... as we might never know the answers to those questions ... so blue in all of its glory, holds many secrets and things still undiscovered.

Blue, especially a robins egg/turquoise type of blue has always been my favourite ... never red ... never yellow, or purple or pink ... When i was young ... my bedroom was the most beautiful shade of robins egg blue. and i loved that room, the room of my childhood ... and the house .... such a great house ... and then we moved when i was 13 to a brand new house ... with builders beige on every wall ... to a house that i felt was devoid of personality despite its gold and green 70's decor ... and i absolutely missed the blue of my old room .... and i think i have been searching for it ever since ... sometimes i come very close to seeing it. My blog is almost but not quite that same blue ... my blog is a little creamier than the blue that i hold in my memories ... every paint colour has always been too green, too yellow, too bright, too dull ... so i guess this room and the beautiful walls will reside inside my head as a memory ... never to be recreated ... with all of those other memories of the old house ...

this post was brought to you by the colour BLUE, the beautiful and soulful Jenny Matlock and her Rainbow Summer School Meme ... check it out ... and enjoy the day reading some very interesting takes on the colour blue!

here are some blue photos from my part of the world ....

What a beautiful mini-essay about the colour blue! Your childhood memories about your robin's egg-blue room remind of my mother painting the entire interior of our house blue with white trimmings, inspired by Thomas Jefferson's Montecello. Blue was a cool colour, and exactly what my mother longed for during the long, sweltering Virginia-summers before the age of air-conditioning. She missed the cool summers of her childhood Sweden.

Lovely photos too!
Best wishes,
Anna

Love all your blues except the blues about blues. Here's something my cousin, who's insane, wrote recently after trying and failing to find the perfect robin's egg blue. The two preceding posts are worth a look too. I told her so, but she wouldn't listen.

What a lovely and thoughtful post about trying to recapture a memory with eyes that no longer see things exactly the same.

I know the feeling you speak of...you can't quite capture it...it is close but just elusively missing some component that makes it perfect.

I really enjoyed reading this.

It spoke to my heart.

A+

Blue is my favorite colour too. I'm never happier than when I'm under a big sky, beside the ocean, on a beach full of blue mussel shells - then I feel I've got almost enough blue!
