Saturday Centus ~ The Seed

I'm back ... I have really missed doing my Saturday Centus posts, but I am back and joining in the fun.  This week Jenny challenged us with the prompt "I planted a little story seed".  I clocked in at exactly 100 words ... here's my take on the prompt.

I planted a little story seed several weeks ago … and oddly I haven’t written since. Somehow despite the lack of attention, this seed has flourished, becoming at once a strong seedling, with roots tentatively exploring the earth and with plenty of space to grow.  Little vignettes have branched off of the main trunk, and as these little vignettes grow, they begin to reach up to the sun for warmth and food and the sun gifts them with blossoms … whispered phrases, and conversations, names, setting and nuances.   And still I cannot commit them to paper.  My pen lies silent.

I'm with Anita. I think your pen is making some pretty good noise right here.

=)

PS. I get what you're saying, though. Sometimes it all just has to simmer inside for awhile.

I loved the imagery your words generated...sometimes words are like sulky children, need to come out at their own pace.

Welcome back and... keep writing! :)

Beautifully written. When the time comes, I'm sure the words will flow on to the paper/computer. Can't wait.

You have perfectly described my writing - most of it stays in my head. Very well done! And thank you for your very kind comment on my blog. P.S., Is your name really Jo? Growing up, I always wanted to be Jo in Little Women and almost chose that name instead of my own for blog writing.

Hard to write with a burned finger, but writers block eh? Start recording your thoughts and there's your start.~Ames

I think what you are trying to say is that writing is a process. Your first draft is not finished; not ready. And even though you might put your first draft in a drawer for a time, your mind is still working 'behind your back' and you can get new ideas as to how to improve and finish your text when you look at it again.

Good thoughts.

Best wishes,

Oh wow. I loved this! I'm really enjoying the ues of this prompt.

It made me feel really creative, too. I thought of about 10 directions to go with it!

I think you're gonna enjoy this Saturdays. It's quite different.

I need to write my black post so I can read everyone elses so I just had to skip over yours.
