Spin that record babe .... Just Dance" ... Love this song by Lady Gaga ... kinda reminds of my 20's and spending the nights just dancing and dancing and laughing and fun ....
I love dance ... but my love of dance wasn't always there ... I remember mom sending me to ballet at the tender age of 6 ... and i remember wanting to skip and leap and twirl ... but we were stuck learning the basic positions and i hated the restrictions imposed on us by a highly technical dance instructor. Mom switched me to art class and that seemed to soothe my creative heart. I actually put my daughter in ballet at a young age, she lasted 3 classes ... so i switched her to musical theatre and she loved it ... the songs, the acting, the jazz/broadway styled dance. Like mother like daughter i guess ... Despite my lack of success with dance, i have always loved it. And I think i love dance because it tells a story, it incorporates music, costume and sometimes background art as well as the art of lighting a stage ... to me its more than just a visual spectacle ... it incorporates more than just sight .... it incorporates heart, soul & sound as well ... it's an art form that incorporates so many other arts ... And I know that is why i love it so much ... and my favourite style of dance ... Ballet of course ... it's just so romantic and so poetic and the costumes are so spectacular and the physic of the dancers is amazing ... perfection in motion ... I may not have ever danced it, but i do love it ... it speaks to my soul.
And Mona Lisa Mae ... as much as she wants to be a ballerina ... i think her tail is going to hold her back a bit ... but she does look pretty in her tutu!

I agree with you. I find dance (my choice is probably musical theater/Broadway) really speaks to the heart of a person. It is something to 'experience' rather than just observe. Thank you so much for sharing this letter "D" post!
So nice to see appreciation for dance, music and art here in your Letter 'D' post. Lovely!!
I love your description of dance and what it can be for someone.
I wish my body would comply & could express the free spirit I feel in my soul, but alas... not so much! Oh well! I still enjoy watching the movement of others.
ps you have a very visually attractive blog page
happy thursday : )
My children will tell you that I am no dancer...although I enjoy it. It mostly makes them laugh!
I love the artwork you used to illustrate your post!
Enjoy the day!
Great description of the power of dance...
I wish I were a little more talented in that area.
Remember Elaine on Seinfield?
yeah...
you needed to be in free form dance or something - my girls are the same way :D
When I was in England a few years back I got to see a bunch of Degas' work in person, it was very moving. I love his work.
One of my favorites actually isn't a ballerina, though, it's a sculpture called 'The Tub.'

I love dancing. It's a sad stage of life when you move out of the dancing phase. Now my dancing is had in the kitchen with my children gathered around. (I suppose that's another enjoyable form of the art).
How lovely. I live with a ballerina and love to watch her dance!
love these images,
dancing dream is cool,
it is normal to have your dreams revolved and changed along the way.
Happy Dreaming.
I have only been to the ballet once - (nutcracker of course) and was totally enthralled!
I took ballet for years and loved it. I still love watching a good ballet, but the dancing is a bit much for me these days.
=)
I can't believe you managed to get Mona Lisa Rae in this post! She's adorable in her tutu.
I have 2 left feet. Any questions?
I always wanted to dance, but I have such a poor sense of balance, I always tripped over my own feet!
My dog has a tutu! She's such a showoff!
I love dance too. It must be in my genetic DNA. I have noticed that my foot starts moving before my mind even registers the music.~Ames
What a wonderful D post. I love watching dance, but I am very uncoordinated and don't have that dancer's body at all. At least I can enjoy watching!
Can't post about dance without including a little Degas, now, can we?
Great post. Glad I stopped for a visit.
But it still didn't help me gain rhythm. I'll never dance, not even on the Wii.
Oh, I love Mona Lisa Mae! She jsut wants to be part of it all. :)
I love Degas' paintings of the dancers !
I don't like this "Lady" Gaga (gaga means stupid/crazy in French) at all so I have never heard a song of her. She just tries to imitate Madonna, but she has not at all her talent.
I don't know why but for some reason, I could never get into watching ballet. I don't know what it is. I would much rather watch other kinds of dance.
dancing is one of my very favorite things! I never got to take lessons, but I am sure I wouldve loved it......
I like Degas and I like Dance. I also was put in ballet classes as a young girl, and I loved it. Didn't last too long, though, because I just got too big. But I never stopped dancing. Good D post. (And I like your blog design... cool.)
I admire those that have the gift for dancing! Thankfully, our children have the musical talent and gift from my hubby (my mom was blessed in this way too...those genes skipped by me :o) My timing or rhythym sometimes tends to get side-tracked or off on its own tangent...
Lovely choice of paintings to illustrate your post on dance. Ballet is so graceful. Mona Lisa Mae looks quite cute in her tutu :o)
Blessings & Aloha!
Dance. Yes, I think some people are natural dancers and you can tell who they are at a very early age. Neat post!
'Dance'is a wonderful D-word and you have found some exquisite images for dance, which is also a D-word, Degas' paintings!
I love dance, but I am not a dancer! Mona Lisa Rae is cute in her tutu!
Thank you for visiting my D-post, 'D is for dog'!
Please return to it at any time, as I have added a dog!
Best wishes,
Anna
P.S.
My cat, Sara would like to extend an invitation to visit her post for ABC-Wednesday,round 7- M.

You know that song? I've got rhythm?
They didn't write that about me. Tap, ballet, disco, ballroom...it's just not in my feet to follow the beat...although I want to.
Maybe I could dance with Mona Lisa Mae and practice. She is adorable!
And so was your post.
Loved the illustrations.
A+
My husband's dad loved Degas. I prefer landscapes, but I can see the beauty in these paintings.
No comment on my ability to dance!!
